The Hospitality Association/The School of Hospitality Business Alumni Auction, of Michigan State University, is a premier fundraising event for the Hospitality Association and the Alumni Association, featuring spectacular individual items and packages donated by alumni and other industry friends in a live auction and a silent auction. This popular event draws hundreds of community members, alumni, students, and faculty, and helps fund a number of programs in The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University. A portion of the Auction proceeds is donated to two local charities: the Junior League of Lansing and the MSU Federal Credit Union’s Institute for Arts & Creativity at the Wharton Center. With a different theme each year, Auction is an exciting, colorful event, organized and led by students in partnership with The School alumni.

Destination Auction is an exciting auction event that you won’t want to miss!

Destination Auction features a unique array of hotel, restaurant, and golf packages from all across the country. Our packages offer truly one of a kind experiences! Our auction is lead by Bob Howe with Epic Auctions and Estate Sales, assisted by Keith Eldred. Destination Auction is a buyer’s premium auction; a 10% fee will be charged to the winner of the item based off of the “hammer price,” which is the final bid. We can’t wait to show you “What’s Under the Big Top” on February 20th!

Silent Auction

Our Silent Auction is a timed multi-round bidding system where bidders can bid as high as they want, silently competing to win each dream package.  Packages include hotel stays, restaurant gift cards, Michigan State apparel, one of a kind gift items, and much more.  Mix this in with good conversation with our wonderful Hospitality Business student volunteers, and the night could not get any better.

Live Auction

Our Live Auction, presented by Bob Howe, our auctioneer for the past 24 years, is fast paced and full of life. Dan Miller, Detroit Lions Radio Play by Play announcer and Fox 2 Detroit Sportscaster, emcees this portion of the event. The Live Auction includes unique golf and resort packages, multi-night stays in beautiful hotels often paired with fabulous dining, sports or theater experiences, as well as much more. Let us send you to your dream destination. You won’t want to miss this!

 You can participate in our live auction from anywhere in the world! Bidders who are not able to attend the auction in East Lansing can bid on Destination Auction packages in real time while the event is happening. Bidders can also place an  “absentee bid” on an item they’re interested in. This “absentee bid” is a maximum amount of money you’re willing to spend on the package which remains secret until the package goes live for bidding. From there, the system will automatically bid on your behalf up to your maximum amount! You can participate in our online auction on any device from anywhere all over the world. We invite you to join in on the Destination Auction fun, even if you can’t make it to East Lansing!
Please note that a 18% buyer premium fee will be charged to the winner of online packages based off of the “hammer price.”
